Simon Konover, Chairman
Simon Konover is the founder of Konover Properties Corporation and serves as the company’s Chairman. Mr. Konover is a legend in the real estate industry, having built a real estate development company of national stature after immigrating to the United States following World War II. The organization, which he founded over 50 years ago, has developed, owned and operated approximately 200 properties in 17 states along the East Coast of the United States. Today, its portfolio includes shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, multi-family housing, and specialty projects.
Mr. Konover has been honored for his philanthropic generosity by dozens of local, national, and international organizations. His community contributions and recognitions include the Prime Minister’s New Life Award from the National Committee for Israel Bonds, and the Distinguished Service to the Cause of Good Relations from the National Conference for Community and Justice.
Mr. Konover was a Founder of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, and served as President and Chairman of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. He is a Life Director of the Federation, and chaired numerous committees. Mr. Konover donated construction management services to Paul Newman's Hole In The Wall Camp for seriously ill children in Ashford, Connecticut.
Mr. Konover received an Honorary Degree in Humane Letters Degree from the University of Connecticut.
David Coppa, Chief Executive Officer
David Coppa continues the legacy of family tradition by proudly representing the third generation of direct private ownership of Konover South and SIKON Construction. Grandson of founder and Chairman Simon Konover, Mr. Coppa formerly served as Vice President of Development and Acquisitions in Florida following several years in retail asset management. Additionally, he worked in the hotel division at the company's affiliated corporation, Konover Hotel, in Connecticut. An expert dealmaker, Mr. Coppa also is extraordinarily skilled at evaluating and optimizing development and acquisition properties. Mr. Coppa serves on the board of The Simon Konover Company and has served on the program committee for ICSC Next Generation events.
Blair F. Hyatt, Executive Vice President - Development
Since beginning his retail real estate career in the early 1980’s, Mr. Hyatt has worked for the Florida Shopping Center Group, Inc., a Chain Links affiliate for eight years, a start-up retailer in charge of real estate and Costco’s national exclusive real estate broker. From early 1996 until October 2001, he was a partner in Commercial Development Associates, a Florida-based real estate development company operating in Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and Florida. Mr. Hyatt has been with Konover South, LLC since 2002. Mr. Hyatt oversees all leasing, marketing and development.
Mr. Hyatt has a degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of South Florida, and is a licensed real estate broker. He began his professional career with Zayre Corporation in 1971 as an Assistant Store Manager, then Store Manager and Regional Training Director. After five years of retail experience, he managed a large brokerage office on Miami Beach, was a sales manager for a large residential project and conducted several sales training seminars.
Trey Patton - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Patton began his professional career with the Big Four public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Subsequently, Mr. Patton held various senior financial positions for two large publicly-held real estate developers, Arvida/JMB Partners, LP and The St Joe Company.
Mr. Patton attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting and a Master of Accountancy. A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Patton has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry.
Jerry Busbee, Vice President - Asset Management
A veteran in retail real estate management and leasing, formerly with CBRE, Inc. as part of the Retail Brokerage Team representing landlords and tenants out of Ft. Lauderdale, Mr. Busbee holds a CPM® designation with IREM and is an active member of ICSC and BOMA. A winner of the CBRE Real Estate Manager Award (Florida), and awarded a Four Diamond Award by TIAA-CREF for consistent property management excellence, Mr. Busbee has serviced portfolios for leading institutional investors including INVESCO, TIAA-CREF, UBS. His expertise includes property management, lease negotiations, site selection, market knowledge, strategic marketing to targeted end users, and third-party representation. Mr. Busbee attended Georgia Tech and received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Mobile.
Beatrice T. Williams, Director, Contract & Lease Administration
Ms Williams has in excess of 25 years in the real estate and legal profession, starting with Florida A&M University and the State of Florida Department of Administration, both in Tallahassee, Florida. Bea attended Florida A&M University and Florida Atlantic University as well as Southern Career Institute, specializing in Paralegal Studies. She served as Senior Paralegal with Arvida JMB/Partners and as Manager, BSG of Office Depot, where she negotiated territorial leases with major retail developers, along with negotiations and drafting of all distribution center leases and land purchases. Her responsibilities at Konover include lease negotiations, corporate entity formation and maintenance, due diligence on major acquisitions and loan closings.
